Fed Cup tickets on sale Friday

Tickets to the February’s Fed Cup match in Kailua-Kona go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday.

Two-day ticket packages will be sold at prices ranging from $40 to $190 ($20 to $95 per day). Starting Jan. 8, two-day packages will no longer be available and fans will have access to single-day tickets with prices ranging from $25 to $100 per day.

The best-of-five match series between the U.S. and Poland will be played Feb. 6-7 at Holua Tennis Center at Holua Resort at Mauna Loa Village.

Play begins Feb. 6, at 11 a.m., with two singles matches. On Sunday, play starts at 10 a.m. with two reverse singles matches and the doubles match. A revised schedule for Sunday may take place if a team clinches in the third or fourth match.

U.S. Fed Cup Captain Mary Joe Fernandez will announce the official team roster no later than 10 days before the event. The U.S. is likely to be led by former world No. 1 Venus Williams and world No. 18 Madison Keys, who have already made themselves available for this match, according to a release.

Youth baseball clinic in January

The Department of Parks and Recreation at Waiakea Uka Gym and University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball will host a free youth baseball clinic for ages 7-13 from 9-11:30 a.m. Jan. 23.

Coach-pitch, T-ball league

The Department of Parks and Recreation in East Hawaii will have an organizational meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday for the upcoming T-ball (ages 5-6) and coach-pitch (7-8) league.

The meeting will be at Aunty Sally’s Luau House, and all teams must send a coach or team representative. League rules, format and team registration packets will be discussed and given out.

Waiakea golf benefit at Muni

The Friends of Waiakea Golf will its 2016 Waiakea High School golf scramble Jan. 6 at Hilo Municipal Golf Course.

Tournament format is a two-person scramble, $200 per team, which includes green fees, golf cart, pupus, bento lunch and dessert.
